Unheard and Underserved: Exploring Support for Male Victims of Partner Abuse

Headshot of Micheal Keenan

My research focused on professionals’ views about how accessible domestic violence services are for men in Ireland. This topic is deeply important because male victims often face shame, stereotypes, and lack of support, leaving many suffering in silence. By highlighting these barriers, I hope my work helps shift how services and policies address domestic violence, ensuring men receive the care and protection they deserve. I want this research to contribute to real change – encouraging more inclusive support, better funding, and training so that all victims, regardless of gender, can find help without judgement or fear.
