Beyond the Ward: Sea Swimming in CAMHS Inpatient Care

Headshot of Rachael O' Callaghan

Young people across the world are susceptible to mental health challenges, including psychological distress, emotional and mental distress, which can lead to adverse outcomes for young persons.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services utilises several evidence-based interventions equipping young persons and their families with transferable skills, such as psychoeducation and promoting communication.

Although research has been conducted on the impact of sea swimming on adults, there has been limited research on its impact on young persons. Using age-appropriate interventions, young people can increase their overall well-being, and sea swimming is just one of many age-appropriate interventions to be explored.
