SURE 2026
The SURE 2026 Conference is the eighth in the series of Science Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Conferences.
The aim of the national SURE conference is to:
- Provide current students with an opportunity to learn about the research undertaken by recent graduates, and the career opportunities available in scientific disciplines.
- Offer recent graduates the opportunity to publish their undergraduate research in SURE-J, Ireland’s undergraduate peer-reviewed scientific journal.
- Celebrate the academic achievements of recent graduates in the scientific disciplines.
- Provide a multi-disciplinary forum where undergraduate research can be shared with students, researchers, academic professionals and industry.
Students from across Ireland who have completed or are completing an undergraduate research project in a science-related discipline are invited to submit an abstract outlining their research. Selected authors will be invited to present their work at this national conference through an oral presentation or a poster presentation.
The theme of the SURE 2026 conference is “Our Research | Our Impact | Our Future”
Authors are encouraged to reflect on their research project, highlighting the significance of their work, its potential impact, and how the research could be developed further in the future.
Describe your research in an abstract and submit through the Oxford Abstracts conference submission system.
There are three steps that follow abstract submission.
- Abstract review – Each submission will be reviewed by two independent reviewers using a double-blind review process.
- Acceptance notification – Authors will be notified in June 2026 as to whether their abstract has been accepted.
- Present at the conference – Accepted authors will present their research at the conference on 23rd October 2026 at ATU Sligo.
Accepted authors will present their research at the conference either as an oral presentation or a poster presentation.
All accepted authors will receive guidelines for preparing the final version of their presentation or poster in advance of the conference.
Selected presenters will also be invited to participate in an online training workshop to support their conference preparation. This workshop will take place in late September or early October.
In addition to an annual conference, the SURE Network offers students an opportunity to submit to the SURE Journal: SURE-J. Students who have completed high quality work should consider making a submission to the journal.
Further information is available on the SURE Journal page.
