Undergraduate Research, Dissemination, Communication and Civic Engagement
Póstaeir san Oireachtas (PsO) 2025 seeks to connect undergraduate students working on research directly with political decision makers, uniting researchers from different disciplines under the theme Research for Change. Through this project we wish to empower students, teaching them how to advocate for effective change, enhancing political awareness and civic engagement behaviors, whilst providing guidance on how to disseminate research findings for maximum impact.
Each Higher Education Institute (HEI) across the island of Ireland is invited to nominate up to five potential candidates, selecting students who have demonstrated significant excellence in original undergraduate research and whose research has the potential for tangible socioeconomic, technological, health, sustainability or environmental impact in the future. Research from all disciplines is welcome.
Subject to venue capacity, HEI nominees will enter into a final selection process on a national level. Successful candidates and their research supervisors will be notified by mid-June 2025. Participants will receive dedicated training in research dissemination for impact prior to the event and will have their research published in a special edition of SURE-J, Irelands undergraduate research journal (ISSN 2990-8167). Students will then be formally invited to present their research findings directly to politicians and policy makers at PsO 2025 (date TBC) in parliamentary buildings, Q4 2025.
Further updates on this exciting new project and how you can apply for this years event will appear here shortly. In the meantime, for more information please email PsO@atu.ie.
