Living the Life: A Community Approach to Men’s Health and Longevity

Headshot of Paul Anders

This research provides evidence that a community-based men’s health programme can deliver measurable health and wellbeing benefits for older, at-risk men often not reached by traditional healthcare services. By enabling co-design, flexible delivery, and long-term collaborative partnerships, the study demonstrates how a programme can promote health, prevent illness and reduce isolation. It also challenges a misconception that community organisations cannot deliver health outcomes, emphasising their role as a public cost-saving measure. The change I hope to bring is bridging the policy practice gap by securing recognition and investment, embedding support for community-based men’s health within national ageing and prevention strategies.
