Our research is significant to Research for Change, as sustainability and AI have become increasingly important in recent years. We aim to harness AI to review sustainability reports and suggest practical green solutions that offset the heavy energy use of data centres powering AI in Ireland. Our work also highlights the risks of AI misuse in sustainability reporting by large companies. As AI becomes embedded in workplaces and education, we believe government-mandated training in its responsible use, especially for younger users, is essential to ensure transparency, accuracy, and integrity in research and reporting.
